About Sydney

Sydney Romero has had a successful career in softball as both a player and a graduate assistant coach at the University of Oklahoma. She played a key role in helping the program win back-to-back national titles and was part of the coaching staff that won the 2022 NFCA Division I National Coaching Staff of the Year award.

Aside from coaching, Romero has continued to play softball professionally with Athletes Unlimited since 2020, following her selection as the third overall pick in the 2019 NPF Draft by the USSSA Pride.

During her college career, Romero achieved impressive accolades at Oklahoma, including two first team All-America selections and two national championships in 2016 and 2017. She was named the 2019 Big 12 Player of the Year and was a top-three finalist for the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award in the same season. Romero holds the program's all-time record for at-bats and doubles.

Romero hails from an athletic family, with her sister Sierra being a three-time softball All-American at Michigan, and her brother Michael set to begin his collegiate baseball career at LSU in the fall.

Recently, Romero completed a master's degree in adult and higher education with a focus on intercollegiate athletics administration at Oklahoma, where she also earned her undergraduate degree in criminology.
